Editorial Policy

Last updated: October 2026

Trust is the only currency an affiliate publication has. This policy documents exactly how Optaria earns it — and the lines we will never cross.

How we research

  • Market signals first: we start from bestseller data, search demand and long-term user feedback to identify genuinely popular, well-regarded products.
  • Feature-level comparison: we compare specifications, materials, warranties and real user-reported strengths and weaknesses.
  • Trade-offs, not hype: every recommendation includes honest cons. If a product has a meaningful weakness, we say so.

How we rank

Rankings reflect editorial judgment about which products serve readers best — balancing performance, value, reliability and suitability for different needs. Commission rates play no role in rankings, and no brand can pay for placement.

What we never do

  • Publish fake reviews, fabricated ratings or invented testing claims
  • Recommend products we have reason to believe are poor quality or unsafe
  • Use false urgency, fake scarcity or misleading discount claims
  • Accept payment for rankings, reviews or "best" placements
  • Hide our affiliate relationships — disclosure appears on every guide

Keeping guides current

Products are discontinued, reformulated and replaced constantly. We review our guides on a rolling basis and mark each with its last-updated date. If you spot something outdated, tell us — reader corrections are genuinely welcome and acted on.

Corrections

When we get something wrong, we fix it and note the correction. Accuracy matters more to us than appearing infallible.

Separation of church and state

Editorial decisions are made by editors. Commercial partnerships are handled separately and disclosed. One never dictates the other — that's the whole foundation of Optaria.
